I am collaborating with Spacecific. I got really inspired by the way they make use of radio and antennas, GPS. I would like to experiment with making my own antennas, learn how they make and use theirs, and use different mediums to create antennas. after that I would also like to use the antennas for a certain artistic purpose
when revisiting the studio we discussed the possibilities of 3D printing and electroplating the 3D print. I am interested in creating shapes and objects that either emit or receive radio signals. maybe incorporating them in nature or in a space where you would not expect.
questions I have are:
- Are there any references in media art that deal with radio that could help me develop a concrete concept for the project?
- Any installation works in the archive that deal with radio signals/antennas/copper smithing? especially radio imaging I find a very interesting topic and also the use of existing radio systems, how they can be hacked for imaging or other purposes.
- Any papers or other references that deal with the making of antennas.
